LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
The licensing process is rigorous and involved. To help, here are the steps each clinician must take in order to apply for a KLPC license.
Step One – Demographics
- Be at least 21 years old
- Live in or be employed by the state of Kentucky
Step Two – Educational Requirements
- Complete a Master of Divinity (or equivalent course of study)
- Complete one year of additional graduate-level training in pastoral counseling (or equivalent course of study)
Step Three – Religious Endorsement
- Be an ordained minister or denominational equivalent
Step Four – Supervision
- Complete 1,375 hours of supervised pastoral counseling
- Complete 250 hours of clinical supervision
Step Five – Application
- Pay application fee
- Submit application
Step Six – Examination
- Pass Written Examination
