The licensing process is rigorous and involved. To help, here are the steps each clinician must take in order to apply for a KLPC license.

Step One – Demographics

• Be at least 21 years old
• Live in or be employed by the state of Kentucky

Step Two – Educational Requirements

• Complete a Master of Divinity (or equivalent course of study)
• Complete one year of additional graduate-level training in pastoral counseling (or equivalent course of study)

Step Three – Religious Endorsement

• Be an ordained minister or denominational equivalent 

Step Four – Supervision

• Complete 1,375 hours of supervised pastoral counseling
• Complete 250 hours of clinical supervision

Step Five – Application

• Pay application fee
• Submit application

Step Six – Examination

• Pass Written Examination
